Corrections and changes
When something here turns out to be wrong or incomplete, the fix is logged with the date and the reason. Nothing is changed quietly.
| Date | Page | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-20 | DDT off LA | Funding / money tile: The FY2024 $6M NOAA earmark changed from "enacted, no award found" to delivered. Confirmed awarded rose from $16.8M to $22.8M. Why: The award was in the federal spending database (NOAA award NA25NMFX469G0096 to UC San Diego, Jan 15, 2025). The earlier search used only press releases. |
| 2026-10-20 | DDT off LA | Funding chart: Missing figures now show as "no figure" instead of possibly drawing as $0. Why: The page was reading blank cells as zero in some views. |
| 2026-10-20 | DDT off LA | Map: Added a source note: the map's total DDT excludes the breakdown product DDMU, while SCCWRP's published totals include it. Station B23-12298 reads 36,970 ng/g here and about 40,000 in SCCWRP's report. Why: To make the two numbers reconcilable. A question about this station is out to SCCWRP. |
| 2026-10-20 | The coast | Rain vs. beach water chart: The San Diego bars were restored after briefly disappearing. Why: An earlier fix for broken bars removed the San Diego rows instead of correcting their labels. Now fixed at the source. |
| 2026-10-20 | The coast | Rain vs. beach water and cost per cubic yard charts: Missing values no longer draw as zero or as broken bars. Why: The page was reading blank cells as zero in some views. |
| 2026-10-20 | The coast | Sand promises: The state's 2026–27 beach grant row now reflects the current listing: about $1.5M statewide, with awards expected June 30, 2027, not "by July 2026." Why: From the CA Grants Portal listing, checked Oct 20, 2026. |
| 2026-10-20 | The coast | Where the walls are (map): The armoring layer is described as mostly 2004–05 mapping, not 2014. Why: The state titles it "2014 Coastal Armoring," but nearly all of its photo dates are from 2004–05. |
| 2026-10-20 | The coast | Sand promises (S014): Added SANDAG's written reply: its $5M state grant request for the next regional sand project was not funded, and no target date is set. Why: New information from SANDAG, received Oct 20, 2026. |
| 2026-10-20 | The coast | Who has decided when to move back (thresholds): After an independent source check of all 28 places: Goleta now shows concrete triggers (from its 2016-17 draft); Carlsbad, Oxnard and LA County move from none found to general; Solana Beach, San Diego, Long Beach, Seal Beach and LA County now name retreat; Laguna Beach is adopted (Feb 2025); Santa Barbara County is withdrawn; LCP certification dates corrected for nine places. Why: Verification before publishing a tally. Some full documents could not be opened, so none found means we found none, not that none exist. |
